Although a twenty second stretch is sufficient before a routine, if this increased to a minute per movement there is a considerable increase in the flexibility of the muscles and limbs. It is not advisable to stretch and then relax straight away but to return to the original position slowly. The correct way would be to hold the position for a second or two, and then return to the start, as its possible to strain or pull both muscles and joints if you restart too quickly. Always start with the easiest exercises first until you have warmed up sufficiently to carry out the more difficult ones and ensure that all the muscle groups are warmed before you start training. Another area, often neglected in stretch and warm-ups, is the neck. You would be surprised just how many people dont bother with this warm-up even though it is not in the least hard to do, in fact all it requires is the palm of the hand being placed on the forehead and pushing against it; this can be repeated for the back and sides. Stretching should also take place during any fitness training workout as well to keep the muscles and joints flexible especially prior to an exercise that may be strenuous on particular areas of the body. Do not overstretch your self performing exercises you are not yet ready for just because there are others who can as this will cause further problems; work to your own pace. There is no set standard you have to achieve each time you attend the gym, just work to your abilities each time, you will know when it does not feel right to continue so listen to your body as no-one is at their peak every time they workout. Daily fitness training can be very hard on the muscles and doesn't allow them enough real time to recover and grow so its best to try to leave a day or so between workouts. Do aerobic exercises to strengthen your heart; aerobic exercises are those physical activities that require more oxygen for fuel; these include cardiovascular exercises such as skipping rope, swimming or jogging. Many people find music good for exercise, especially something with a regular beat that can be worked to; of course mp3 players are ideal for this. Most mp3 players, for instance, come with a pair of headphones, but it will be a worthwhile investment buying a decent pair as there is less likelihood of any sound leakage; other people just might not want to listen to your choice in music!
